Tool: Studio Recording Session*
Category: Digital Content Creation: MIDI
Studio Recording Session (SRS) is both a full-featured MIDI sequencer and a sophisticated music publishing application. SRS MultiSeq technology allows simultaneous performance of multiple music files, each with its own tempos, realtime dynamics, and other effects. Individual tracks can be routed to any device/channel combination to manage sophisticated sonic experiences for games, multimedia kiosks, and live performances. SRS supports Microsoft DirectSound for integrating digital audio and realtime effects. The MusicPalette provides a powerful suite of tools for adding music symbols to a performance using a simple point-and-click interface. Music symbols affect the performance, allowing users to easily create and experiment with music. The mixer and inspector provide a simple way to modify all musical elements. A plugin architecture provides a simple, consistent upgrade path.

Key Pentium® II processor features/performance benefit
Features Benefits
MultiSeq* technology Multiple MIDI file sequencing and independent control over each file allows the computer to control many different musical performances simultaneously. Support for General Midi, GS and XG midi files, patch maps and banks provide simple way to configure instruments and voices for each file.
DirectSound* support Realtime mixing of digital audio tracks, realtime effects (pan, chorus, reverb, 3D spatialization on systems with appropriate hardware acceleration). Extremely low latency enhances realtime performance. MMX technology provides increased raw computing power for mixing and processing digital audio tracks in realtime.
WYSIWYG graphic music editing Intuitive graphical interface for adding music symbols, changing musical parameters, and performing music. Multiple symbols can be modified simultaneously, eliminating tedious user operations. All views and tools are synchronized so that changes to one view are reflected in all other components. True-type font and many visual tools for extracting parts, configuring layouts, etc. allow high-quality printed output of music files for desktop publishing applications.
Realtime performance of music symbols Music can be modified visually using common music notational practices. Users can experiment with different tempos, accelerandos, dynamic changes, ornaments, accents and other effects in realtime while music is playing.
Plug-in architecture Music symbols, views and other components can be added/removed as needed, providing a simple upgrade path. As more sophisticated effects are developed, users simply drop the new components into the PlugIns directory and the new feature is added to the program.
