Hands-On Seminar
DSP Implementation Using PIC18C MCUs

Sacramento CA
March 8th 2001
Open

PIC18C DSP workshop:

6 hours

Basic DSP fundamentals and hands-on MPLAB®IDE workshop will show design engineers how to develop correlation, FIR, and IIR algorithms for Microchip’s new high-performance devices. Users will leave with free tools, PIC® macro includes files and scripts to develop coefficients and build filters in the PIC18C architecture.  The PIC18C core with its improved math instructions and 10MIPS execution speed permits the development of sophisticated digital filters. FIR transversal (convolution) filters with up to 48dB rejection may be implemented at a cost of 9 Instructions and 0.9uS/tap. Biquad IIR sections cost 58 Instructions and 5.8uS/section. Seminar includes:

  • PIC18C-based FIR and IIR Macro assembler code
  • Free Scilab Graphical Mathematics engine provided with PIC-based DSP scripts
  • Automatic PICmicro® MCU assembly code generation for filter coefficients
  • Excel®- based DFT and signal generation worksheets
  • MPLAB register stimulus injection and data analysis tools
  • Simple ‘cookbook’ presentation files unravel the mystery of DSP
