Defence contractors cluster along the District of Columbia's corridors of power, around the Pentagon in Arlington, and most recently, in edge-city nodes that coincide with Fairfax County's Special Planning Districts. Post 11 September, security regulations will alter this pattern as Department of Defense personnel in leased spaces relocate to secure sites further from the capital. Defence contractors are expected to follow, a migration that would exacerbate the regional effects of sprawl.
