NAG recommends that you read the following minimum reference material before calling any library function:
(a) Essential Introduction
(b) Chapter Introduction
(c) Function Document
(d) Implementation-specific Users' Note
Items (a), (b) and (c) are included in the NAG C Library Manual; item (d) is this document which is provided in HTML form.
Assuming that libnagc.a or libnagc.so has been installed in a directory in the search path of the linker, such as /usr/lib/64, and that the NAG include files have been moved to /usr/include, then you may link to the NAG C Library in the following manner:
fcc -KV9 -mt driver.c -lnagc -lmwhere driver.c is your application program.
If the library is in a location other than /usr/lib/64, such as /opt/NAG/lib, and the include files are in a location other than /usr/include, such as /opt/NAG/include, then you may link to the NAG C Library in the following manner:
fcc -KV9 -mt -I/opt/NAG/include driver.c -L/opt/NAG/lib -R/opt/NAG/lib \ -lnagc -lmThe use of the -L and -R options in the compilation command can be avoided if the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set as follows:
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH /opt/NAG/lib(see the man page for ld(1) for more information about LD_LIBRARY_PATH). Note that the NAG C Library is supplied in both static and shareable versions (libnagc.a and libnagc.so.6 respectively). By default the compilation command given above will link to the shareable version of the library, libnagc.so, if that exists in the same directory as libnagc.a. To force linking with the static library, use the compiler flags -Bstatic and -Bdynamic, e.g.
fcc -KV9 -mt -I/opt/NAG/include driver.c -L/opt/NAG/lib -Bstatic -lnagc \ -Bdynamic -lmor alternatively insert the name of the static library explicitly on the command line, e.g.
fcc -KV9 -mt -I/opt/NAG/include driver.c /opt/NAG/lib/libnagc.a -lm
nagexample c06eacwill copy the example program and its data into the files c06eace.c and c06eafe.d in the current directory and process them to produce the example program results.
A full on-line version of the NAG C Manual is supplied in the form of Portable Document (PDF) files. You will need to check how this version has been made available at your site.
