3.1.1.2 Clothes that cannot be washed (because the problems below occur when immersed in water)

  1. Garment that has much interfacing and padding, etc., and that can easily become misshapen when immersed in water (Necktie, blazer coat, jacket, coat, one-piece dress, ensemble (suit or other 2-piece outfit),etc.)

  2. Clothing without care symbols indicating handling

  3. Material which could undergo significant shrinkage, discoloration or surface change when immersed in water (Rayon, silk, fabric woven of rayon or silk mixed yarn, leather products, fur, etc.) (Attention) Do not wash any item made of unknown material.

  4. Fabric which could undergo significant shrinkage or surface change when immersed in water (Wool and cotton fabric woven using hard twist yarn, georgette, crepe, silk crepe, etc.)

  5. ltem with surface texture that disappears when immersed in water (Wrinkle-processed material and emboss-processed material) (Attention) Test by dripping a few drops of water on a part of clothing which is not noticeable.If the unevenness of the surface of the material disappears, do not wash this item.

  6. Fabric with color that runs easily when immersed in water (See page for details "How to check for non-colorfastness".)

  7. Fabric with a raised surface that becomes flattened when immersed in water, and fabric which has a raised surface (Velvet and velveteen)
