Internationally Recognized Quality System Certifications
Microchip's Quality System is based on the elements and criteria specified by QS9000. QS9000 is the highest quality system certification mandated by the world's major automotive customers. ISO9001 requirements are a subset of the QS9000 standard. The specified controls apply to all stages of design and manufacturing. Management's stated public commitment to the quality of Microchip's products is expressed in terms of the Quality Policy: In order to meet or exceed customer expectation at a reduced cost, we encourage our employees to support continuous improvement, anticipate problems and implement root cause solutions.
The Microchip Quality Manual documents the Quality system used for the company's design and manufacturing activities. It defines Microchip's overall policy and the responsibilities toward each of the quality system elements. For each element, Microchip maintains documented procedures to ensure adherence to the established controls. Microchip periodically conducts Management Reviews and internal audits of the quality system to ensure the system's continuing suitability. At Microchip, the benefits of our "quality first" philosophy include reduced costs and increased customer satisfaction. As proof of our commitment to quality, Company divisions from all over the world work together to develop quality methodologies and display superior performance. This effort earned Microchip's Chandler and Tempe, Arizona facilities QS9000 Quality System certification - the international quality standard - for the design and manufacture of PICmicro® 8-bit microcontrollers, non-volatile memory products, KEELOQ® security devices and engineering development systems. Our Thailand facility received QS9000 certification for the assembly and test of Microchip products. While Microchip has also received numerous systems awards from our customers over the past 10 years - including Motorola, United Technologies, Delco - the highest standards of quality are the ones we set for ourselves. |
