VTune Development Environments Supported

VTune can be used in conjunction with a variety of development environments, as described in the table below. In addition to the vendors mentioned below, Intel is working with other leading software vendors to provide complete support for VTune in their JITs and JVMs. Bookmark and watch this page for updates as they become available.

Environment/Component Description Implementation
Intel JIT JIT only (no VM); comes with VTune 2.5.1 The Intel JIT is installed on your system when you install VTune. Use the Switch JIT utility in the VTune program group to switch from Microsoft's JDK 1.5 JIT to the Intel JIT.
Microsoft* JDK 1.5 Requires Intel JIT Use the normal JDK command line interface to compile your Java program, switch to the Intel JIT using the Switch JIT utility in the VTune program group, and then use VTune to analyze your Java program. Refer to the section "Find Hotspots with VTune 2.5" in Analyzing a Simple Java* Application with VTune and Microsoft Visual J++* for step-by-step instructions on using VTune.
Microsoft JDK 2.0 or Internet Explorer 4.0 Fully compatible with VTune 2.5.1 For Microsoft's JDK, use the normal JDK command line interface to compile the program, then use VTune to analyze your Java program. Refer to the section "Find Hotspots with VTune 2.5" in Analyzing a Simple Java* Application with VTune and Microsoft Visual J++* for step-by-step instructions on using VTune.
Microsoft Visual J++* Fully compatible with VTune 2.5.1; requires Internet Explorer* 4.0 See Analyzing a Simple Java* Application with VTune and Microsoft Visual J++* for step-by-step instructions on using VTune.
SuperCede*

VTune works with SuperCede's DLLs See Analyzing a Simple Java* Application with VTune and SuperCede--Java Edition for step-by-step instructions on using VTune.
Microsoft Visual C++* 5.0, 4.x Fully compatible with VTune 2.5.1 See Analyzing a Simple C/C++ Application with VTune and Microsoft Visual C++* for step-by-step instructions on using VTune with Visual C++ 5.0.
Others
