A free VTune update is now available for all VTune 2.xx users. This update installs the new features and improvements provided by VTune 2.5.1.

Note that the update described on this page is only for the VTune version 2.5.1 itself--the update does not include the compilers or other bundled software components on the VTune 2.5.1 CD.

If you have VTune 2.0, 2.01, 2.02, 2.1, 2.11, 2.12, 2.4 or 2.5 installed on your system, you can install the complete VTune 2.5.1 update.

To find out which version of VTune is currently installed on your system, double-click on the VTune icon in the VTune program group and check the version number displayed on the splash screen. (The version number is also displayed in the Help menu's "About VTune" window.)

Note Regarding VTune 2.5.1

VTune 2.5.1 was created to ensure that VTune is compatible with Windows* NT* 4.0 Service Pack 4 and Windows NT 5.0. No other changes were made to VTune 2.5 in creating VTune 2.5.1. The only way to discover whether you have VTune 2.5.1 installed is to check the version of the sampling device driver on Windows* NT*. To do this, right-click on the file \winnt\system32\drivers\tbs.sys and select the "Properties" item. The device driver in VTune 2.5 has no version number and no "Version" tab will appear. The VTune 2.5.1 device driver is version number 3, 0, 0, 31798, which will be indicated in the Version tab. VTune 2.5.1 makes no changes to VTune 2.5 when installed on a Windows 95* system.

To download and install the VTune 2.5.1 update from this web site, you must have the following:

• VTune 2.0 or a later version of VTune installed on your system.
• A password to unzip and install VTune 2.5.1 on your system.

• From outside the U.S. or Canada, call 503-264-2203 (Hours are 8 - 5 PST)

Note: VTune 2.0 through VTune 2.4 users will require a new password to install VTune 2.5.1. VTune 2.5 users who downloaded the VTune 2.5 update from this website may install VTune 2.5.1 using the same password they used to install VTune 2.5, if the password is still available. If you need a new password, call Intel at the above number.
